Damon is locally regarded as one of the finer keyboard artist/vocalists around. His high profile has not only been forged through innumerable performances at: Resorts, Corporate Functions, Wedding Receptions, RSL’s and Sporting Clubs in Australia and the UK, but has been uniquely carved by appearances on Variety Shows at The Bristol Hippodrome [the UK’s second largest stage] and Television on the ‘The Children’s Royal Variety Show’ broadcast by BBC TV. Blessed by the ability to touch people with his voice from a very young age, Damon’s gift afforded him the opportunity of being handpicked to sing at the Theatre Royal, London, in front of HRH Princess Anne, at the tender age of twelve. Full of pride and an infectious charm that far surpassed that of a 12 year old child, Damon’s smile was beamed across the old blighty by the BBC....a career was born.
As a burgeoning sixteen year old boy, Damon was headhunted to perform at ‘Pontins Holiday Camps’. That’s right, otherwise known to many around the world as ‘Hi-De-Hi and hello Campers’....Damon spent two heady years as a Resident Entertainer, apprenticed to some of the greatest artists to travel the UK, he sang and performed six grueling days and nights a week. Having worked vigorously throughout his short Career he was duly acknowledged, Warners seduced him away from their competition where he was given the honour of being the youngest Compare/MC to be awarded his own venue. Impassioned, Damon ran the Show at the “Limelight Club”, a large venue seating over 1000 guests and featuring talented visiting artists seven nights a week, and received rave reviews.
However, as a singer/songwriter, piano + keyboard player the artist in him was feeling neglected.....So, after finishing his contract with Warners, Damon was immediately poached as a keyboard player and vocalist by the internationally known band ‘Babel’. ‘Babel’ later became the much-loved ‘Tuesday Blues’, whom attracted a huge fan base that sent them touring for five tireless years around England, Scotland, Wales, Germany, Holland to name but a few - at Clubs, Private Castles, Weddings and Charity Balls.
Desperately needing a break and wary of career stagnation it seemed change was a-foot once more. After much deliberation Damon made the difficult decision to break-away from the tour circuit, leave the security of the talented band and embraced his gypsy spirit in search of a Solo Career in warmer climes.
Now basing himself in Queensland, Australia Damon has achieved great success as a full-time Solo Performer. But not one to sit on his laurels, Damon spends much time composing and was recently given a grant from Arts Queensland and Redlandshire Council to collaborate with playwright Donna Cameron on the theatre musical ‘Convict’. Not stopping there, Damon continues to hone his MCing skills working for the Department of Premier and Cabinet, Events Co-ordination Area and Queensland Newspapers.
With a huge repertoire Damon entertains his audience with a gamut of musical styles: well-loved classic ballads, jazz and love songs, teamed with upbeat rock n’ roll, reggae and dance hits from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s right through to popular contemporary favourites. One of Damon’s greatest assets is his ability to tailor his repertoire to suit any occasion - - - from relaxed sit-down dinner music to performing the high energy songs that go to creating a packed dance floor.
Not only a songwriter but also a brilliant interpreter, Damon has great appreciation for the beauty and strength of other people’s music and delivers each song as if he has lived it.
